The first applique (cut out fabric motif pieces sewn either by hand or machine stitched; sewn onto a larger piece of fabric i.e. quilts, robes, bags, etc…) Puamana created the “Woodrose” motif in her signature Kapa Kuiki Style blending traditional patterns with modern techniques. Initially designed on baby quilts for craft fairs; (circa 1984) the concept of an “appliqued” Kapa quilt sold in public was short of scandalous! Celebrating 45 years in October 2026, Puamana Crabbe Designs continues to honor Kapa Kuiki with a vintage custom sheath from her Legacy Collection (Designs from 1984 - 2004). Size 6/8.
